Silicon Metal is a pivotal industrial product instrumental in steel-making, cast iron, aluminum (aviation, aircraft & automobile parts production), silicon optoelectronic devices, and numerous other industries. Often referred to as the "salt" of modern industries, metal silicon is crafted from quartz and coke through electric heating furnace smelting. With a main silicon content of approximately 98%, the remaining impurities include iron, aluminum, and calcium, ensuring its superior quality and versatility.
Silicon Metal lumps are produced in an electric heating furnace using quartz and coke. The quartz undergoes redox reactions, transforming into molten silicon liquid, which solidifies upon cooling to form the initial large silicon metal lumps. These primal lumps are then processed
into standardized smaller lumps, typically ranging from 10-100mm in size.
Characterized by its silver gray or dark gray hue with a metallic luster, Silicon Metal boasts a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, high resistivity, and outstanding oxidation resistance.
1) Silicon Metal is extensively utilized in refractory materials and powder metallurgy industries to enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance.
2) In the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder serves as the fundamental raw material for forming high polymers of organic silicon.
3) Industrial silicon powder is sublimated into monocrystalline silicon, a critical raw material in high-tech fields for integrated circuits and electronic components.
4) Within metallurgy and foundry sectors, industrial silicon powder is valued as an iron base alloy additive, enhancing the hardenability of steel through the alloy pharmaceutical of silicon steel.
5) Silicon Metal is also employed in producing high-temperature materials.
