Silicon Metal is an indispensable cornerstone of modern industrial applications. Its versatile properties make it crucial in steel-making, cast iron, aluminum manufacturing (including aviation, aircraft, and automobile parts), optoelectronic devices, and numerous other industries. Known as the 'salt' of contemporary industry, Silicon Metal is produced by smelting quartz and coke in an electric furnace, resulting in a product with approximately 98% silicon content. Minor impurities include iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lumps are produced in an electric heating furnace using quartz and coke. During the process, quartz undergoes redox reactions, transforming into molten silicon. Once cooled, it solidifies into large silicon metal lumps.
These lumps are then processed into smaller, standardized sizes, typically ranging from 10 to 100mm.
With its silver-gray or dark gray hue and metallic luster, Silicon Metal boasts a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, high resistivity, and outstanding oxidation resistance.
1) Silicon Metal is extensively used in refractory materials and powder metallurgy to enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance.
2) In the chemical industry, industrial silicon powder serves as a fundamental raw material for the formation of high-polymer organic silicon products.
3) Industrial silicon powder is refined into monocrystalline silicon, an essential material in the high-tech sector for integrated circuits and electronic components.
4) In metallurgy and foundry, industrial silicon powder is utilized as an iron base alloy additive, improving the hardenability of steel and enhancing the properties of silicon steel alloys.
5) Silicon Metal is integral to the production of high-temperature materials.
Our portfolio includes ferromanganese, metallic silicon, silicon carbon alloy, cored wire, ferrochrome, silicon manganese alloy, silicon carbide, ferrosilicon, and silicon aluminum barium calcium, among others. We also export refractory materials and other metallurgical products, customizing them to meet specific customer requirements.
