Silicon Metal is an indispensable powerhouse in the industrial sector, serving a pivotal role across diverse fields. Its applications span from steel-making and cast iron production to the manufacture of aluminum components, such as those used in aviation, aircraft, and automobiles. Additionally, silicon metal is crucial in the production of silicon optoelectronic devices, among other industries, rightfully earning its nickname as the 'salt' of modern industries. Crafted from quartz and coke, silicon metal emerges from the electric heating furnace with a robust silicon content of approximately 98%. The remaining composition includes minimal impurities like iron, aluminum, and calcium, contributing to its remarkable quality.
Silicon Metal lumps originate from the fusion of quartz and coke within an electric heating furnace. This process triggers a redox reaction, transforming the materials into molten silicon. Upon cooling, the liquid solidifies into the large primal silicon metal lumps we recognize. These substantial lumps are then expertly refined
into smaller, more manageable pieces known as standard size Silicon Metal Lumps, ranging from 10-100mm.
This remarkable material boasts a captivating silver grey or dark grey hue with a metallic sheen. It is renowned for its high melting point, excellent heat resistance, substantial resistivity, and outstanding oxidation resistance, making it an ideal choice for demanding industrial applications.
1) Silicon Metal is a highly versatile element, widely embraced by the refractory material and power metallurgy industries. Its exceptional properties significantly enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance, making it an indispensable component in these demanding applications.
2) In the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder stands as the foundational raw material. It plays a critical role in the formation of high polymers of organic silicon, underscoring its importance in advancing chemical innovations.
3) Industrial silicon powder is sublimated into the purest form of monocrystalline silicon. This transformation is vital for the high-tech industry, where it serves as an essential raw material in the development of integrated circuits and electronic components, driving technological advancement.
4) Within the metallurgy and foundry sectors, industrial silicon powder acts as a crucial additive in iron base alloys and as a pharmaceutical agent in the production of silicon steel. This application not only enhances the hardenability of steel but also contributes to improved material performance and durability.
5) Silicon metal serves as a cornerstone in the production of high-temperature materials, providing the necessary resilience and robustness required for applications that withstand extreme conditions.
