Silicon Metal, a pivotal industrial product, finds extensive usage in steel-making, cast iron, aluminum (aviation, aircraft, and automobile parts production), silicon optoelectronic devices, and numerous other industries. Revered as the "salt" of modern industries, silicon metal is synthesized by smelting quartz and coke in electric heating furnaces. The primary component is silicon with an approximate purity of 98%, while minor impurities include iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lumps are crafted in electric heating furnaces using quartz and coke. Through a redox process, quartz transforms into molten silicon, which solidifies upon cooling to form large silicon metal lumps.
These large lumps are subsequently broken down into smaller, standardized sizes known as Silicon Metal Lumps, typically ranging from 10-100mm.
With a striking silver-gray or dark gray hue and metallic luster, Silicon Metal features a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, high resistivity, and superior oxidation resistance.
