Silicon Metal is an indispensable industrial product, playing a crucial role in steel-making, cast iron, and aluminum industries for aviation, aircraft, and automobile parts production. Additionally, it finds applications in silicon optoelectronic devices and several other industries, earning the title of the "salt" of modern industries. Produced through the smelting of quartz and coke in electric heating furnaces, silicon metal boasts a primary composition of approximately 98% silicon. The remaining impurities include iron, aluminum, and calcium, among others.
Silicon Metal lumps are crafted in electric heating furnaces using quartz and coke. The process involves the redox reaction of quartz, which transforms into molten silicon liquid. Upon cooling, this liquid solidifies into large primal silicon metal lumps.
These large lumps are subsequently broken down into smaller standard-sized lumps, ranging from 10-100mm.
Characterized by a silver-gray or dark-gray hue with a metallic luster, silicon metal boasts a high melting point, superb heat resistance, high resistivity, and excellent oxidation resistance.
1) Silicon Metal is extensively utilized in the refractory material and powder metallurgy industries to enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance.
2) In the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder serves as a fundamental raw material for the formation of high polymers of organic silicon.
3) Industrial silicon powder is sublimated into monocrystalline silicon, a critical material in high-tech fields, particularly in the production of integrated circuits and electronic components.
4) In metallurgy and foundry, industrial silicon powder functions as an additive for iron-based alloys and as a pharmaceutical agent for silicon steel, thereby enhancing the hardenability of steel.
5) Silicon metal is instrumental in the manufacture of high-temperature materials.
Our main product line includes ferromanganese, metallic silicon, silicon carbon alloy, cored wire, ferrochrome, silicon manganese alloy, silicon carbide, ferrosilicon, silicon aluminum barium calcium, silicon barium calcium, and more.
