Silicon manganese alloy is a meticulously composed fusion of manganese, silicon, iron, with a minimal infusion of carbon and other elements. Renowned for its extensive applications and significant production output, this alloy stands as a pivotal component in the ferroalloy sector, ranking second in consumption for electric furnace products. Its integral components, manganese and silicon, exhibit a profound affinity with oxygen, enhancing its performance in steelmaking. The deoxidation products, mnsio3 and mn2sio4, possess melting points of 1270 ºC and 1327 ºC respectively, ensuring a superior deoxidation process characterized by low melting points, sizeable particles, effortless buoyancy, and exceptional deoxidation efficiency. Remarkably, the separate deoxidization using manganese or silicon results in a burning loss rate of 46% and 37%, whereas the combined effect in silicon manganese alloy reduces this to 29%. This alloy is expertly produced by the simultaneous reduction of manganese ore (including manganese-rich slag), manganese oxide, and silicon dioxide with carbon in a submerged arc furnace, epitomizing a sophisticated metallurgical process.
