Based on the method of smelting employed, ferromanganese is categorized into two distinct types: electric furnace ferromanganese and blast furnace ferromanganese, each tailored to meet specific industrial needs and applications.
The classification of ferromanganese is further refined by its carbon content, leading to an organized division into three unique categories:

Low-carbon category: Here, the carbon content is meticulously controlled to not exceed 0.7%, ensuring suitability for precise industrial applications.
Medium carbon category: With a carbon content ranging from greater than 0.7% up to 2.0%, this category offers a balanced option for varied steel-making processes.
High-carbon category: Characterized by a carbon content exceeding 2.0% and extending up to 8.0%, this category is ideal for applications demanding higher carbon presence.
