Silicon Metal is an essential industrial cornerstone that plays a pivotal role across various sectors. It is integral to steel-making, cast iron, and aluminum manufacturing, particularly for aviation, aircraft, and automobile parts, as well as in the production of silicon optoelectronic devices. Often referred to as the 'salt' of modern industries, this versatile metal is produced by smelting quartz and coke in an electric heating furnace. With a silicon content of approximately 98%, it ensures exceptional purity and performance, with minimal impurities such as iron, aluminum, and calcium.
The production process of Silicon Metal lumps involves the use of quartz and coke in an electric heating furnace. Through a redox reaction, quartz is transformed into molten silicon liquid. Once cooled, this liquid solidifies into large primal silicon metal lumps. These substantial forms are then meticulously processed
into smaller, more manageable lumps known as the standard size, ranging from 10mm to 100mm.
Characterized by a striking silver or dark gray hue with a metallic sheen, Silicon Metal boasts a high melting point and remarkable heat resistance. Its superior oxidation resistance and high resistivity make it a standout material for demanding industrial applications.
1) Silicon Metal is extensively utilized in the refractory material and power metallurgy industries to significantly enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance. Its presence ensures superior performance and longevity.
2) Within the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder serves as the fundamental raw material, essential for the formulation of high polymers in organic silicon production.
3) Industrial silicon powder is transformed into monocrystalline silicon, a pivotal component in the high-tech sector, serving as a key raw material for integrated circuits and electronic elements, integral to modern technology.
4) In the metallurgy and foundry sectors, industrial silicon powder is esteemed as an additive for iron base alloys and as a critical agent in silicon steel alloy formulation, thereby enhancing the hardenability of steel.
5) Silicon metal plays a crucial role in the production of high-temperature materials, offering resilience and durability essential for demanding applications.
