Silicon Metal is an exceptionally vital industrial product with diverse applications in steel-making, cast iron, and aluminum for aviation, aircraft, and automobile parts production. It also finds usage in silicon optoelectronic devices and many other industries, earning it the title the 'salt' of modern industries. This metal silicon is derived from smelting quartz and coke in electric heating furnaces, with a silicon content of approximately 98%. The remaining impurities include iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lumps are produced in electric heating furnaces using quartz and coke. The quartz undergoes redox reactions, transforming into molten silicon liquid. Upon cooling, it solidifies into the large, primal silicon metal lumps we see. These large lumps are then
processed into smaller, standard-sized lumps, typically ranging from 10-100mm.
Silicon Metal exhibits a silver-gray or dark gray hue with a metallic luster. It boasts a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, high resistivity, and superior oxidation resistance.
