Ferro-Chrome with less than 56% chrome content is referred to as 'charge chrome' and is derived from ore with lower chrome levels. Conversely, High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, made from higher-grade ore, is widely used in specialized applications such as engineering steels. These applications require a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimal levels of impurities like sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium.

Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome is pivotal in steel production to fine-tune chrome percentages, ensuring stability in carbon and trace elements. It also serves as a cost-effective alternative to metallic chrome in superalloys and other specialized melting applications.
