Customized FeCr Ferrochromium - Low Carbon Ferro Chrome
The production of steel is the largest consumer of Ferro Chrome, especially in stainless steel manufacture with a chromium content of between 10% and 20%. This essential element fortifies the steel, ensuring both strength and durability.
Ferro-Chrome with a chrome content below 56% is termed 'charge chrome' and is derived from lower-grade chrome ore. In contrast, High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, sourced from higher-grade ore, is often reserved for specialized applications, such as engineering steels, where a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimal impurities like sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium are critical.
Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome is pivotal during steel production to fine-tune chrome percentages without introducing undesirable variations in carbon or trace elements. Additionally, it serves as an economical substitute to metallic chrome in super alloys and other specialized melting applications.
