Tailored Silicon Calcium Barium Alloy for Steel Casting Deoxidation
Silicon Calcium Barium Alloy is a groundbreaking composite alloy in the barium series, renowned for its dual role as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer in steelmaking. Additionally, it offers exceptional dephosphorization capabilities (BaP2, BaP3) and serves as an inoculant and modifier in casting processes.
Barium significantly reduces the vapor pressure of calcium within the steelmaking temperature range and enhances calcium's solubility in molten steel. Compared to silicon calcium alloy, using silicon calcium barium alloy as a calcium source results in nearly double the calcium content in the steel liquid, even when only half the amount is used. This remarkable improvement showcases barium's ability to protect calcium in molten steel, reduce calcium oxidation, and ultimately optimize calcium treatment in molten steel.
