Silicon calcium barium alloy stands as a pioneering, highly efficient composite alloy in the barium series. This remarkable substance serves as both a deoxidizer and desulfurizer in the steelmaking process, and it also boasts dephosphorization capabilities (BaP2, BaP3). Furthermore, it is a valuable inoculant and modifier within casting applications, ensuring enhanced material performance and quality.
Barium plays a crucial role by significantly reducing the vapor pressure of calcium within the typical steelmaking temperature range, thereby increasing calcium solubility in molten steel. When silicon calcium barium alloy is utilized as a calcium source, even with half the amount added compared to silicon calcium alloy, the calcium content in molten steel doubles. Moreover, the stability of calcium within the molten steel is substantially improved. This demonstrates barium's efficacy in protecting calcium, reducing its oxidation, and achieving optimal treatment of calcium in molten steel.
