Silicon Metal is an indispensable industrial marvel, pivotal in steel-making, cast iron, aluminum (aviation, aircraft & automobile parts production), and silicon optoelectronic devices, among numerous other industries. Aptly dubbed the "salt" of modern industries, Silicon Metal is synthesized from quartz and coke via electric furnace smelting. It predominantly comprises about 98% silicon with minor impurities such as iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lump is crafted in electric heating furnaces using quartz and coke. Quartz undergoes redox reactions to form molten silicon, which solidifies upon cooling into substantial silicon metal lumps.
These large primal silicon metal lumps are then processed into smaller, standard-sized lumps measuring between 10-100mm.
With a striking silver-gray or dark-gray hue and a metallic sheen, Silicon Metal boasts a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, significant resistivity, and superior oxidation resistance.
