Silicon Metal is an indispensable cornerstone of modern industry, playing a vital role across a myriad of sectors. Its applications span from steel-making and cast iron to the production of aluminum components for aviation, aircraft, and automobiles, as well as silicon optoelectronic devices. Often referred to as the 'salt' of contemporary industries, this essential material is produced by smelting quartz and coke in an electric furnace. The primary component is silicon, boasting a remarkable purity of approximately 98%, while the remaining constituents include trace amounts of iron, aluminum, and calcium, among others.
The creation of Silicon Metal lumps is an intricate process, originating in an electric furnace using quartz and coke. In this environment, quartz undergoes a redox reaction, transforming into a molten silicon liquid. Upon cooling, this liquid solidifies into the substantial primal silicon metal lumps we recognize. However, these initial lumps are quite substantial in size and are subsequently refined
into more manageable, standardized smaller pieces. These Silicon Metal Lumps are meticulously sized between 10 and 100mm.
With a striking silver-gray or dark gray hue accentuated by a metallic luster, Silicon Metal exhibits extraordinary properties such as a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, significant resistivity, and superior oxidation resistance, making it an invaluable asset in demanding industrial applications.
1) Silicon Metal is extensively celebrated in refractory materials and the power metallurgy industry for its remarkable ability to enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance.
2) In the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder stands as the foundational raw material for the formation of high polymers of organic silicon, driving innovation and progress.
3) Industrial silicon powder, when sublimated into monocrystalline silicon, becomes indispensable in the high-tech sector, serving as the core raw material for integrated circuits and electronic components.
4) Within the metallurgy and foundry sectors, industrial silicon powder acts as a crucial iron base alloy additive, contributing as the alloy pharmaceutical of silicon steel, thereby significantly enhancing the hardenability of steel.
5) Silicon metal plays a pivotal role in the creation of high-temperature materials, ensuring superior performance and reliability.
