Silicon Metal is a crucial industrial product, utilized across various domains including steel-making, cast iron, aluminum (aviation, aircraft & automobile parts production), and silicon optoelectronic devices. Revered as the 'salt' of modern industries, this versatile material is produced by smelting quartz and coke in an electric heating furnace. With a silicon content of approximately 98%, it is predominantly composed of silicon, with minor impurities such as iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lumps are produced in an electric heating furnace using quartz and coke. The quartz undergoes redox reactions, transforming into molten silicon. As it cools, it solidifies into large silicon metal lumps.
These large lumps are then processed into smaller, standardized sizes ranging from 10-100mm.
This exceptional material boasts a silver-gray or dark gray hue with a metallic luster, characterized by a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, high resistivity, and superior oxidation resistance.
