Silicon Metal is an indispensable industrial marvel, essential for steel-making, cast iron, and aluminum industries, including aviation, aircraft, and automobile parts production. It also plays a crucial role in silicon optoelectronic devices and various modern industries, earning the nickname 'salt' of the industrial world. This metallurgical wonder is derived from quartz and coke through electric furnace smelting, featuring a primary silicon content of approximately 98%, complemented by minor impurities like iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lumps are produced via electric heating furnaces using quartz and coke. Through a redox reaction, quartz transforms into molten silicon, which, upon cooling, solidifies into large primal silicon metal lumps.
These large lumps are then refined into smaller, standardized sizes known as Silicon Metal Lumps, typically ranging from 10-100mm.
Boasting a silver-grey or dark grey hue with a metallic luster, Silicon Metal is prized for its high melting point, superior heat resistance, high resistivity, and exceptional oxidation resistance.
1) Widely applied in refractory materials and powder metallurgy, Silicon Metal enhances heat, wear, and oxidation resistance.
2) In the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder serves as the foundational raw material for high polymers of organic silicon.
3) Sublimated into monocrystalline silicon, industrial silicon powder is pivotal in high-tech fields, forming the backbone of integrated circuits and electronic components.
4) In metallurgy and foundry applications, industrial silicon powder functions as an iron base alloy additive and a pharmaceutical agent for silicon steel, enhancing steel's hardenability.
5) Additionally, Silicon Metal is vital in the production of high-temperature materials.
