Silicon Manganese Alloy is a remarkable composition of manganese, silicon, iron, with tiny amounts of carbon and other essential elements. This ferroalloy is a top performer in industry applications due to its high demand and production volume. Its role in electric furnace ferroalloy products is second to none. Manganese and silicon exhibit a strong affinity for oxygen, which is pivotal during steelmaking. The deoxidation products, MnSiO3 and Mn2SiO4, have melting points of 1270 ºC and 1327 ºC, respectively. These characteristics contribute to a lower melting point, sizeable particles, easy flotation, and superior deoxidation efficiency. Notably, the individual deoxidation burning loss rates of manganese and silicon are 46% and 37%, while the combined efficiency of silicon manganese alloy reduces this to just 29%. The production involves reducing manganese ore, manganese-rich slag, manganese oxide, and silicon dioxide with carbon in a submerged arc furnace, ensuring optimal quality and performance.
