Silicon Metal is an indispensable cornerstone of modern industry, revered as essential as 'salt' in various sectors. With its pivotal role in steel-making, cast iron production, and the fabrication of aluminum parts critical to aviation, aerospace, and automotive industries, its versatility is unmatched. Beyond these, Silicon Metal is integral in the realm of silicon optoelectronic devices and countless other industries. This extraordinary material originates from the fusion of quartz and coke within an electric heating furnace, where it is meticulously smelted to achieve a remarkable purity of approximately 98% silicon content. The remaining composition includes minimal impurities such as iron, aluminum, and calcium, further enhancing its industrial value.
The production of Silicon Metal lumps is a fascinating process involving the transformation within an electric heating furnace, where quartz undergoes a redox reaction with coke, culminating in the formation of molten silicon liquid. Upon cooling, this liquid solidifies into the primal form of Silicon Metal lumps, initially large and imposing in size. This fascinating metamorphosis results in the substantial initial lumps.
These are subsequently processed into smaller, more manageable pieces, commonly known as standard sizes. The Silicon Metal Lumps are expertly crafted to a standard size range of 10-100mm, ensuring consistency and ease of use across various applications.
Exhibiting a striking silver gray or dark gray hue, these lumps are imbued with a metallic luster, reflecting their exceptional quality. Renowned for their high melting point, they boast remarkable heat resistance and display extraordinary resistivity and superior oxidation resistance, making them an ideal choice for demanding industrial applications.
1) Silicon Metal finds extensive applications in the refractory material and power metallurgy industries. Its unique properties significantly enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance, making it indispensable in these fields.
2) In the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder serves as a fundamental raw material for synthesizing high polymers of organic silicon. Its role is crucial in creating these advanced materials.
3) Industrial silicon powder is transformed into monocrystalline silicon, a vital component in the high-tech sector. This material is essential for the development of integrated circuits and electronic elements, placing it at the forefront of technological innovation.
4) Within metallurgy and foundry applications, industrial silicon powder is highly valued as an additive to iron-based alloys. It plays the role of an alloying agent in silicon steel, enhancing the hardenability and performance of steel products.
5) Silicon metal is also a key ingredient in the production of high-temperature materials, underscoring its importance in industries requiring materials that withstand extreme conditions.
