Beyond its role as an abrasive, it finds diverse applications. For instance, silicon carbide powder can be applied to the impeller or cylinder of water turbines, enhancing wear resistance and extending service life by 1 to 2 times. As a refractory material, silicon carbide offers resistance to thermal shock, compact size, low weight, high strength, and excellent energy efficiency. Low-grade silicon carbide (approx. 85% SiC) acts as an outstanding deoxidizer in steelmaking, accelerating processes, allowing precise chemical control, and boosting steel quality. Additionally, silicon carbide is widely employed in manufacturing silicon carbide rods for electric heating elements.
