Low and medium carbon ferromanganese is an indispensable material in the realm of special steel production. On the other hand, high carbon ferromanganese is primarily utilized as a deoxidizing agent or to infuse steel with additive alloy elements, further underscoring its versatility in steel-making.
Depending on the smelting techniques employed, ferromanganese is categorized into two types: electric furnace ferromanganese and blast furnace ferromanganese.
Based on the carbon content, ferromanganese is classified into three distinct categories:
Low-carbon category: characterized by a carbon content not exceeding 0.7%;
Medium carbon category: defined by a carbon content ranging from greater than 0.7% up to 2.0%;
High-carbon category: exhibited by a carbon content ranging from greater than 2.0% to 8.0%.
