Low and medium carbon ferromanganese is an indispensable material in the realm of special steel production. Renowned for its pivotal role in steelmaking, it stands as one of the most critical raw materials. Additionally, it serves an essential function in manufacturing welding electrodes. On the other hand, high carbon ferromanganese is primarily utilized as a deoxidizing agent or to infuse steel with additive alloy elements, further underscoring its versatility in steel-making.

Depending on the smelting techniques employed, ferromanganese is categorized into two types: electric furnace ferromanganese and blast furnace ferromanganese.
Based on the carbon content, ferromanganese is classified into three distinct categories:

Low-carbon category: characterized by a carbon content not exceeding 0.7%;
Medium carbon category: defined by a carbon content ranging from greater than 0.7% up to 2.0%;
High-carbon category: exhibited by a carbon content ranging from greater than 2.0% to 8.0%.
