Thanks to its impressive stable chemical properties, exceptional thermal conductivity, minimal thermal expansion coefficient, and outstanding wear resistance, silicon carbide serves a multitude of purposes beyond its traditional role as an abrasive. When applied to the impeller or cylinder of a water turbine, silicon carbide powder significantly enhances the wear resistance, extending the service life by 1 to 2 times. Refractory materials made from it boast heat shock resistance, compact size, lightweight nature, high strength, and an effective energy-saving advantage. Notably, low-grade silicon carbide (approximately 85% SiC) is a remarkable deoxidizer, accelerating the steelmaking process, allowing precise chemical composition control, and elevating the steel's quality. Furthermore, it is extensively utilized in the manufacture of silicon carbide rods for electric heating elements.
