Silicon Metal is an indispensable industrial product used in steel-making, cast iron, aluminum (aviation, aircraft, and automobile parts production), and silicon optoelectronic devices, among various other industries. It's often regarded as the 'salt' of modern industries. Silicon metal is produced by smelting quartz and coke in an electric heating furnace. The primary component is silicon, with a purity of approximately 98%. The remaining impurities include iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lumps are produced in electric heating furnaces using quartz and coke. The quartz undergoes a redox reaction, becoming molten silicon. After cooling, it solidifies into large silicon metal lumps.
These large lumps are then processed into smaller, standardized sizes, typically ranging from 10-100mm.
Silicon Metal exhibits a silver-gray or dark gray color with a metallic luster. It boasts a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, high resistivity, and superior oxidation resistance.
1) Silicon Metal is extensively used in refractory materials and power metallurgy industries to enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance.
2) In the chemical industry, industrial silicon powder serves as a fundamental raw material for producing high polymers of organic silicon.
3) Industrial silicon powder is sublimated into monocrystalline silicon, widely used in high-tech fields as a crucial material for integrated circuits and electronic components.
4) In metallurgy and foundry, industrial silicon powder is an additive for iron-based alloys and silicon steel pharmaceuticals, enhancing steel hardenability.
5) Silicon metal is also utilized in manufacturing high-temperature materials.
