Ferro-Chrome with chrome content below 56% is often referred to as 'charge chrome' and is derived from chrome-containing ore with lower chromium levels. Conversely, High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, sourced from higher grade ore, is predominantly used in specialized applications like engineering steels. Here, a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimal presence of other elements such as sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium are essential.
Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome is indispensable in steel production for adjusting chrome levels without causing unwanted variations in carbon or trace elements. Additionally, it offers a cost-effective alternative to metallic chrome in super alloys and other specialized melting applications.
