Ferro molybdenum ( Ferro moly ) is an alloy primarily composed of iron (Fe) and molybdenum (Mo). Created by melting iron and molybdenum sources, typically ferrosilicon and industrial-grade molybdenum oxide, in a furnace, this alloy boasts molybdenum content ranging from50% to 75%. Ferromolybdenum is not classified as a hazardous material for transportation.
Ferro molybdenum is widely used as an additive in steelmaking and cast iron production. Its inclusion significantly enhances the hardenability, strength, and corrosion resistance of the final metal products. With molybdenum in the alloy, it can withstand high temperatures, making it ideal for industries such as automotive, construction, petroleum, and natural gas.
