Ferrovanadium (ferrovanadium alloy) is a crucial ferroalloy extensively applied within the dynamic steel industry. Comprising a powerful amalgam of vanadium and iron, it is subtly infused with minor impurities like sulfur, phosphorus, silicon, and aluminum. FeV is masterfully produced using either the carbon reduction of vanadium pentoxide in an electric furnace or through aluminothermic reduction. This exceptional alloy is indispensable as an elemental additive in the smelting of vanadium-rich alloy steel, alloy cast iron, and the crafting of enduring permanent magnets.
The vanadium content in ferrovanadium is precisely calibrated to meet specific alloy formulations and manufacturing requirements. Typically, its vanadium content ranges from 30% to 80%, balanced by iron. FeV alloys are categorized into three distinguished types based on vanadium content: FeV40, FeV60, and FeV80, all essential in the smelting of alloy and low-alloy steel. Furthermore, vanadium aluminum alloys are vital for titanium alloy production, often referred to as 'VQ' VAl, underscoring their significance in advanced manufacturing.
