The Silicon Manganese Alloy is an expertly crafted composite of manganese, silicon, iron, and trace elements such as carbon. This versatile iron alloy is renowned for its extensive utility and high production volume. It ranks second in consumption among electric furnace ferroalloy products. The manganese and silicon components showcase a remarkable affinity for oxygen, making it an ideal choice for steelmaking. The deoxidation process yields melting products, MnSiO3 and Mn2SiO4, with melting thresholds of 1270 ºC and 1327 ºC, respectively. Its advantageous properties include a low melting point, substantial particle size for easy buoyancy, and superior deoxidation efficiency. In similar conditions, the burn-off rates of isolated manganese or silicon deoxidization stand at 46% and 37%, but when combined in manganese silicon alloy, it decreases to 29%. The production process involves a simultaneous reduction of manganese ore (including manganese-rich slag), manganese oxide, and silica with carbon in a submerged arc furnace, ensuring an optimal product.
