Steel manufacturing, particularly stainless steel production with chromium content ranging from 10% to 20%, is the predominant consumer of Ferro Chrome.

Ferro-Chrome with a chrome content below 56%, referred to as 'charge chrome', is derived from lower-grade chrome ore. In contrast, High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, obtained from superior-grade ore, is typically utilized in specialized applications such as engineering steels, demanding a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimal levels of contaminants like sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium.

Low-Carbon Ferro-Chrome is integral in steel production to fine-tune chromium levels without introducing unwanted variations in carbon or trace elements. It serves as a cost-effective substitute for metallic chrome in super alloys and other specialized melting applications.
