Silicon manganese alloy represents a marvelous fusion of manganese, silicon, iron, and trace elements like carbon, forming an iron alloy celebrated for its extensive applications and high yield. It proudly ranks second among electric furnace ferroalloy products. The manganese and silicon components exhibit a robust affinity with oxygen. When employed in steelmaking, the deoxidation products, MnSiO3 and Mn2SiO4, boast melting points of 1270 ºC and 1327 ºC respectively, offering a suite of advantages such as a low melting point, large particles, easy flotation, and an impressive deoxidation effect. Under identical conditions, the burning loss rates for individually deoxidized manganese and silicon are 46% and 37%, respectively, but when deoxidized together, the manganese silicon alloy achieves a remarkable reduction to 29%. Produced through the simultaneous reduction of manganese ore (including manganese-rich slag), manganese oxide, and silicon dioxide with carbon within a submerged arc furnace, this alloy epitomizes efficiency and innovation.
