Ferro-Chrome is categorized based on chromium content: 'charge chrome' with less than 56% chromium is derived from lower-grade ore, while High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, sourced from superior ore, is utilized in niche applications like engineering steels, necessitating a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimal impurities such as sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium.

Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome plays a crucial role in steelmaking, precisely adjusting chrome levels without altering carbon or trace element percentages. It serves as an economical alternative to metallic chrome in super alloys and specialized melting processes.
