Calcium Silicon Alloy is an advanced compound alloy made from silicon, calcium, and iron. It serves as an exceptional compound deoxidizer and desulfurization agent. In modern steelmaking, Calcium Silicon Alloy can effectively replace aluminum for final deoxidation. It is crucial in producing high-quality steel, specialty steels, and unique alloys including rail steel, low carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, and titanium alloys.
Calcium Silicon Alloys are essential as deoxidizers and desulfurizers in the production of premium-grade steel. Both Calcium and Silicon exhibit a strong chemical affinity for oxygen. Notably, calcium also shows a significant affinity for sulfur and nitrogen. The steel industry utilizes approximately 90% of global Calcium Silicon (CaSi) consumption, highlighting its critical role.
This versatile alloy is also pivotal in modifying non-metallic inclusions. Calcium Silicon is instrumental in controlling the shape, size, and distribution of oxide and sulfide inclusions.
