Ferrosilicon is a remarkable ferro alloy, meticulously composed of iron and silicon. This versatile alloy is forged from coke, steel scraps, and quartz (or silica) through an intricate smelting process in an electric furnace. Silicon's strong affinity for oxygen allows ferrosilicon to act as an exceptional deoxidizer during steelmaking. Moreover, the formation of SiO2 releases substantial heat, enhancing the molten steel's temperature while achieving deoxidization. Furthermore, ferrosilicon enriches its utility as an alloying element additive, extensively deployed in low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel, and electrical silicon steel. Its role as a reducing agent is indispensable in both ferroalloy production and the chemical industry, showcasing its unparalleled adaptability and value.
