Depending on the smelting method, ferromanganese is categorized into electric furnace ferromanganese and blast furnace ferromanganese.
Based on carbon content, ferromanganese is classified into three distinct categories:

Low-carbon category: Carbon content is capped at no more than 0.7%;
Medium carbon category: Carbon content ranges from greater than 0.7% to 2.0%;
High-carbon category: Carbon content spans from greater than 2.0% to 8.0%.
