Silicon Manganese alloy is an exceptional alloy composed of manganese, silicon, iron, and trace elements such as carbon. A cornerstone in ferroalloy production, it stands second in consumption in electric furnace products. The manganese and silicon content in this alloy exhibit a robust affinity for oxygen. When utilized in steelmaking, it forms deoxidation products with melting points at 1270 ºC (MnSiO3) and 1327 ºC (Mn2SiO4), boasting a lower melting point, sizable particles, and easy buoyancy for superior deoxidation efficacy. Compared to separate deoxidation processes, the manganese silicon alloy reduces burning loss rates to 29% from 46% and 37% for standalone manganese or silicon respectively. Crafted by reducing manganese ore (including manganese-rich slag), manganese oxide, and silicon dioxide concurrently with carbon in a submerged arc furnace, it embodies a sophisticated metallurgical marvel.
