Ferrovanadium (ferrovanadium alloy) stands as a vital ferroalloy extensively employed within the steel industry. Comprising a potent blend of vanadium and iron, it is laced with minor impurities like sulfur, phosphorus, silicon, and aluminum. FeV is expertly produced either via the carbon reduction of vanadium pentoxide in an electric furnace or through aluminothermic reduction. This remarkable alloy is indispensable as an element additive in the smelting of vanadium-laden alloy steel and alloy cast iron, and in the crafting of permanent magnets.
The vanadium content in ferrovanadium is meticulously adjusted according to specific alloy formulations and manufacturing requirements. Typically, the vanadium content in ferrovanadium spans from 30% to 80%, balanced by iron. FeV alloys are categorized into three distinguished types based on vanadium content: FeV40, FeV60, and FeV80, all pivotal in the smelting of alloy and low-alloy steel. Furthermore, vanadium aluminum alloys are integral to titanium alloy production, commonly referred to as 'VQ' VAl.
