Ferrosilicon is a dynamic ferro alloy formed from a precise blend of ferro and silicon. This remarkable alloy is created from a fusion of coke, steel scraps, and quartz (or silica) smelted meticulously in an electric furnace. Given silicon's natural affinity for bonding with oxygen to become silicon dioxide, ferrosilicon serves as an exceptional deoxidizer in the steelmaking process. The exothermic reaction of SiO2 generation elevates the molten steel's temperature, enhancing the deoxidation process. Beyond its deoxidizing prowess, ferrosilicon finds its role as an alloying element additive, pivotal in crafting low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel, and electrical silicon steel. Furthermore, its capabilities extend as a reducing agent in both the ferroalloy production sector and the chemical industry.
