Silicon Metal is an indispensable product in modern industries. It plays a crucial role in steel-making, cast iron, aluminum manufacturing (aviation, aircraft, and automobile parts), silicon optoelectronic devices, and many other sectors, earning its reputation as the 'salt' of contemporary industry. Produced from quartz and coke in electric heating furnaces, silicon metal boasts a high silicon content of about 98%, with minor impurities including iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lumps are created in electric heating furnaces from quartz and coke. In this process, quartz undergoes redox reactions, transforming into molten silicon. After cooling, it solidifies into large primal silicon metal lumps.
These primal lumps are then processed into smaller, standardized sizes ranging from 10-100mm.
With a silver-gray to dark-gray metallic luster, silicon metal exhibits high melting points, excellent heat resistance, superior oxidation resistance, and high resistivity.
