Silicon Metal stands as a pivotal industrial marvel, integral to a multitude of sectors including steel-making, cast iron, and aluminum production, particularly in aviation, aircraft, and automobile manufacturing. Known as the 'salt' of modern industries, this versatile product also finds its place in silicon optoelectronic devices and beyond. Crafted from quartz and coke through electric heating furnace smelting, it boasts a composition primarily of approximately 98% silicon. The remaining elements include iron, aluminum, and calcium, making it indispensable across various applications.
Produced through the meticulous process of redox in electric heating furnaces using quartz and coke, Silicon Metal initially forms as a molten liquid before solidifying into sizable metal lumps. These primal silicon metal lumps undergo further refinement
to create smaller, standard-sized lumps ranging from 10mm to 100mm.
Its appearance is characterized by a striking silver-gray or dark gray hue with a metallic luster. Silicon Metal is renowned for its high melting point, commendable heat resistance, significant resistivity, and superior oxidation resistance.
1) Silicon Metal is extensively utilized in refractory materials and powder metallurgy industries to enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance.
2) In the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder serves as a foundational raw material for the formation of high polymers.
3) When sublimated into monocrystalline silicon, industrial silicon powder becomes an essential component in high-tech fields, particularly in integrated circuits and electronic elements.
4) Within metallurgy and foundry sectors, industrial silicon powder is valued as an iron base alloy additive, significantly enhancing the hardenability of steel.
5) Silicon Metal is also pivotal in the production of high-temperature materials.
