Silicon carbide, renowned for its stable chemical properties, exceptional thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion, and superior wear resistance, is a versatile material with uses far beyond abrasives. It is expertly applied to the impellers or cylinders of water turbines, significantly enhancing wear resistance and extending service life by 1 to 2 times. When used as a refractory material, it showcases remarkable heat shock resistance, compact size, light weight, high strength, and impressive energy savings. Low-grade silicon carbide (approximately 85% SiC) serves as an excellent deoxidizer, accelerating steelmaking, allowing precise control over chemical compositions, and enhancing steel quality. Additionally, silicon carbide is widely utilized for crafting silicon carbide rods, ideal for electric heating elements.
