Ferrosilicon is a versatile alloy combining iron and silicon, crafted from coke, steel scraps, and quartz (or silica) through a meticulous smelting process in an electric furnace. Renowned for its ability to readily bond with oxygen to form silicon dioxide, ferrosilicon serves as an essential deoxidizer in steelmaking. The exothermic reaction of SiO2 formation simultaneously elevates molten steel temperatures, optimizing deoxidation efficiency. Beyond this, ferrosilicon enriches alloying processes, significantly enhancing the quality of low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel, and electrical silicon steel. Its pivotal role extends to functioning as a reducing agent within ferroalloy production and various chemical industry applications.
