Minerals Metallurgy Ferrochromium Alloy Fecr Ferrochrome High Carbon Ferro Chrome
The production of steel is the most significant consumer of Ferro Chrome, especially in the manufacture of stainless steel which necessitates a chromium content ranging from 10% to 20% to enhance its resilience and anti-corrosive properties.
Ferro-Chrome with a chrome content below 56% is referred to as 'charge chrome' and is derived from a chrome-containing ore with reduced chrome levels. Alternatively, the High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, sourced from superior grade ore, is predominantly utilized in specialized applications such as engineering steels, where maintaining a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimizing impurities like sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium is imperative.
Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome plays a crucial role in steel production by adjusting chrome levels without introducing unwanted fluctuations in carbon or trace element ratios. It stands as a cost-effective substitute to metallic chrome for applications in superalloys and other specialized melting processes.
