Ferro-Chrome with a chromium content less than 56% is referred to as 'charge chrome,' derived from ore with a lower chromium concentration. In contrast, High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, crafted from superior grade ore, is predominantly utilized in specialized applications like engineering steels. Here, a high Cr to Fe ratio is critical, alongside minimal levels of elements such as sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium, ensuring superior quality steel.

Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome plays a crucial role in steelmaking to finely adjust the chrome levels without introducing unwanted carbon or trace elements. It also serves as a cost-effective substitute for metallic chrome, especially in super alloys and other specialized melting processes.
