Ferrovanadium, a crucial ferroalloy, is a cornerstone of the steel industry, known for its exceptional properties. This powerful alloy is a masterful combination of vanadium and iron, with trace amounts of impurities such as sulfur, phosphorus, silicon, and aluminum. FeV is crafted through either the carbon reduction of vanadium pentoxide in an electric furnace or the aluminothermic reduction method. Its indispensable role as an element additive in the smelting of vanadium-rich alloy steel, alloy cast iron, and the creation of permanent magnets underscores its significance in modern metallurgy.
The vanadium content in ferrovanadium is precisely calibrated according to distinct alloy formulations and production demands. Typically, it ranges from 30% to 80%, balanced with iron. FeV alloys are categorized into three prominent types based on their vanadium content: FeV40, FeV60, and FeV80, each playing a crucial role in the smelting of alloy and low-alloy steel. Additionally, vanadium aluminum alloys hold a key position in titanium alloy production, commonly identified as 'VQ' VAl.
