Calcium silicon alloy, a remarkable compound alloy composed of silicon, calcium, and iron, serves as an exceptional deoxidizer and desulfurization agent. Presently, calcium alloy is utilized as a superior alternative to aluminum for final deoxidation in the production of high-quality steel, special steel, and unique alloys. Applications include rail steel, low carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel base alloys, titanium alloys, and other specialized alloys.
Calcium Silicon Alloys are pivotal as deoxidizers and desulfurizers in the production of premium-grade steel. Both calcium and silicon possess a robust chemical affinity for oxygen. Calcium, in particular, exhibits a strong chemical affinity for not only oxygen but also sulfur and nitrogen. The steel industry is responsible for approximately 90% of global CaSi consumption.
This alloy also plays a crucial role in modifying non-metallic inclusions. Calcium Silicon is instrumental in regulating the shape, size, and distribution of oxide and sulfide inclusions, thereby enhancing the fluidity, machinability, ductility, and impact properties of the steel product.
