Tailor-Made Silicon Calcium Barium for Superior Steel Casting as a Premium Deoxidizer
Silicon calcium barium alloy represents a cutting-edge, highly efficient composite in the barium series. It excels as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer in steelmaking, and further offers dephosphorization properties (BaP2, BaP3). This alloy also serves as an excellent inoculant and modifier in casting processes.
Barium significantly lowers the vapor pressure of calcium at steelmaking temperatures, enhancing calcium's solubility in molten steel. Compared to silicon calcium alloy, the use of silicon calcium barium alloy as a calcium source results in approximately double the calcium content in molten steel, despite using only half the amount of calcium. This enhanced stability indicates that barium effectively shields calcium in the molten steel, reducing oxidation and achieving optimal calcium treatment.
