Ferrosilicon, an indispensable iron-silicon alloy, is meticulously crafted from coke, steel scraps, and quartz (or silica) in an electric furnace. Known for its prowess in synthesizing silicon dioxide, this alloy serves as a perfect deoxidizer in steelmaking. It not only facilitates the removal of oxygen but also enhances molten steel temperatures through the exothermic production of SiO2, making it ideal for various steel applications. Ferrosilicon is also prized as an alloying element, finding widespread use in low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel, and electrical silicon steel.
