Tailored Silicon Calcium Barium for Steel Casting Deoxidation
The Silicon Calcium Barium Alloy represents a cutting-edge composite alloy in the barium series, distinguished for its remarkable efficiency. Its primary roles include serving as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer in the steelmaking process, while also providing exceptional dephosphorization capabilities (BaP2, BaP3). Furthermore, this alloy acts as a superior inoculant and modifier within casting applications.
Barium plays a crucial role in reducing the vapor pressure of calcium across the steelmaking temperature range, thereby enhancing the solubility of calcium in molten steel. Compared to traditional silicon calcium alloys, the use of silicon calcium barium alloy as a calcium source allows the addition of half the calcium amount yet results in approximately twice the calcium content in the steel liquid. This substantial improvement in calcium stability within molten steel indicates that barium effectively safeguards calcium, mitigating oxidation and optimizing calcium treatment in the process.
