Customized Silicon-Calcium-Barium Alloy for Steel Casting as a Deoxidizer
Silicon calcium barium alloy stands as an innovative and highly efficient composite alloy in the barium series. Known for its superior deoxidizing and desulfurizing properties in steelmaking, it also excels in dephosphorization (BaP2, BaP3). This alloy serves as an exceptional inoculant and modifier in casting applications.
Barium significantly reduces the vapor pressure of calcium within the steelmaking temperature range, enhancing calcium's solubility in molten steel. When compared with silicon calcium alloy, the inclusion of silicon calcium barium alloy as a calcium source results in a calcium content in molten steel that is roughly double, even with half the amount of added calcium. This demonstrates barium's effective protection of calcium in molten steel, minimizing calcium oxidation and significantly improving calcium stability, thereby ensuring efficient calcium treatment within the steel.
