Silicon Metal is a crucial industrial product, pivotal for steel-making, cast iron, aluminum (aviation, aircraft & automobile parts production), and silicon optoelectronic devices, among many other sectors. Often referred to as the 'salt' of modern industries, metal silicon is produced by smelting quartz and coke in electric furnaces. With a primary silicon content of about 98%, it includes minor impurities like iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lumps are crafted in electric heating furnaces using quartz and coke. Through the redox process, quartz transforms into molten silicon liquid, which solidifies upon cooling. Initially formed as large primal silicon metal lumps,
these are then refined into smaller, standardized sizes ranging from 10-100mm.
This Silicon Metal boasts a mesmerizing silver-gray or dark gray hue with a metallic luster. It features a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, remarkable resistivity, and superior oxidation resistance.
1) Silicon Metal is extensively used in refractory materials and the power metallurgy industry to enhance heat, wear, and oxidation resistance.
2) In the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder serves as the fundamental raw material for creating high-polymer organic silicon.
3) Industrial silicon powder is transformed into monocrystalline silicon, a vital material in the high-tech sector for integrated circuits and electronic elements.
4) In metallurgy and foundry applications, industrial silicon powder is valued as an additive in iron-based alloys and silicon steel pharmaceuticals, improving steel hardenability.
5) Silicon Metal is integral to the production of high-temperature materials.
