Customized FeCr Ferrochromium: Low Carbon Ferro Chrome
Steel production, particularly stainless steel manufacturing, is the primary consumer of Ferro Chrome. Stainless steel typically contains chromium levels ranging from 10% to 20%, necessitating the critical use of this material.
Ferro-Chrome containing less than 56% chrome is classified as 'charge chrome,' derived from ore with a lower chrome content. In contrast, High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, sourced from higher grade ore, is preferred for specialized applications such as engineering steels. This preference is due to its superior Cr to Fe ratio and minimal amounts of undesirable elements like sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium.
Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome plays an essential role in steel production, allowing precise adjustments of chrome percentages without altering carbon or trace element levels. Beyond steel, it serves as a cost-effective substitute for metallic chrome in super alloys and specialized melting processes.
